A tax-exempt organization, such as the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (legal name Eastern Washington State Historical Society), must file an annual information return or notice with the IRS. Annual information returns include Form 990, which is the IRS' primary tool for gathering information about tax-exempt organizations and for organizations to share information with the public about their programs.
